Notes

Santa Barbara ceanothus (Ceanothus impressus) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and woodland edges. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry, sandy soil. Its small, dark-green evergreen leaves have curled margins, and deep-blue flowers appear in showy clusters. Prune flexible growth to control size, but avoid cutting older, woody growth. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with White sage, Shenandoah switchgrass, and Globemaster allium.
