Notes

'Sarabande' Japanese pieris (Pieris japonica 'Sarabande') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. Dense, evergreen foliage stays attractive all year, and fragrant flowers open from early to late spring. It grows slowly, so it keeps its shape with little pruning. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Autumn fern, First Frost hosta, and Endless Summer hydrangea.
