Notes

'Shooting Star' forest gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides 'Shooting Star') is a shrub for borders, specimens, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer tend to pass it by. Dense evergreen growth reaches 36 to 48 inches tall and wide. Fragrant white flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and bees and birds visit them.

Pairs well with Carolina jessamine, Society garlic, and Little Gem southern magnolia.
