Notes

Short's sedge (Carex shortiana) is a grass for meadow plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). It grows up to 36 inches tall. The green and brown flowers appear in late spring and continue into early to mid summer. In the wild it grows in rich woods, swampy thickets, and wet open ground such as spring-fed meadows and pond margins, so it suits damp spots in your garden.

Pairs well with Big bluestem, Wild bergamot, and Bloodroot.
