Notes

'Starlette' carnation (Dianthus 'Starlette') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil of most types. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and the fragrant flowers attract butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Because it is evergreen and drought tolerant, it needs little care.

Pairs well with Coneflower, Tussock bellflower, Lavender, and Blue fescue.
