Notes
'Stewartstonian' rhododendron (Rhododendron 'Stewartstonian') is a shrub for borders, specimen plantings, shade gardens, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Orange-red flowers open from early to late spring and draw hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. It stays evergreen and grows 48 to 60 inches tall and wide.
Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Lady fern, Liberty hosta, and River birch.
