Notes

'Strawberry Sensation' honeyberry (Lonicera caerulea 'Strawberry Sensation') is a shrub for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun. It bears dark blue berries with a sweet-tart taste and a strawberry aftertaste, and you can grow it for fresh eating, pies, jams, and jellies. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Fragrant yellow flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, but you need a different late-blooming clone nearby for pollination.

Pairs well with Golden Globe American arborvitae, Metechi garlic, Red fescue, and Eliza rose.
