Notes
'Sundae Fraise' panicle hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata 'Sundae Fraise') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, specimen planting, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Large cone-shaped flower heads open creamy white, then age to pink and strawberry red on strong burgundy stems. It blooms from summer into fall and is fragrant.
Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Jelena Japanese witch hazel, and Polish Spirit clematis.
