Notes

'Taiyo' sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Taiyo') is an annual for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and food gardens. It cannot take cold, and a freeze will end its season. This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil of most types. It grows fast, stands tall and erect, and is drought tolerant. Butterflies, bees, and birds all visit the blooms. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with First Knight fountain grass, Zahara Starlight Rose zinnia, and Easy Wave Blue petunia.
