Notes

'Taurus' rhododendron (Rhododendron 'Taurus') is an evergreen shrub for privacy screens, hedges, specimens, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Large trusses of solid red flowers with dark maroon flecks open in late spring, and bees visit them. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. You can prune it after flowering.

Pairs well with Lady fern, Sum and Substance hosta, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
