Notes

'The Rising Sun' Texas redbud (Cercis canadensis 'The Rising Sun') is a tree for specimen planting, borders, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Pale pink, pea-like flowers open in clusters on bare branches in spring, and the new leaves emerge fiery orange. It sits low on the menu for deer. Winter cold helps it bloom well.

Pairs well with Chocolate Ruffles coral bells, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and European white birch.
