Notes

'Top Hat' peony (Paeonia 'Top Hat') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. The fragrant carmine-red blooms have a yellow center and open in mid season, and bees and butterflies visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Helen Graham Reynolds bred it.

Pairs well with Fire Island hosta, Western sword fern, Little Beauty tulip, and Pyrethrum.
