Notes

'Topaz' apple (Malus domestica 'Topaz') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is grown for fresh eating, and the crisp, sharp fruit has yellow skin with a red flush. Pink spring flowers attract bees. Dr. Jaroslav Tupy bred it in the 1990s, and you may need to thin the fruitlets at the end of May to get bigger apples.

Pairs well with Flowering quince, Garlic chives, Irish moss, and Black Parrot tulip.
