Notes

'Velvet Beauty' iris (Iris 'Velvet Beauty') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The standards are violet, and the falls are victoria-violet with an aureolin blotch.

Pairs well with Blue wild indigo, Feather reed grass, and Lady of the snows.
