Notes

'Viking' common hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis 'Viking') is a bulb for borders, containers, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant violet-blue flowers are edged in a paler blue and open in early to late spring. Bees visit them, and the bulbs are good for early forcing. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Black Parrot tulip, Earth Angel hosta, and Sarah Bernhardt peony.
