Notes

'Vulcan' hosta (Hosta 'Vulcan') is a perennial for borders, shade gardens, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows 12 to 24 inches tall and spreads at least 24 inches wide, so give it room. The blooms are fragrant and attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Astilbe, and Bigleaf hydrangea.
