Notes

'Westerner' peony (Paeonia 'Westerner') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Its single row of medium pink petals surrounds bright yellow staminodes, and the blooms are fragrant. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Myron D. Bigger bred it in 1942.

Pairs well with Fire Island hosta, Picture tulip, Incrediball hydrangea, and Royal fern.
