Notes

'Whit III' lagerstroemia (Lagerstroemia indica 'Whit III') is a shrub for specimen planting, hedges, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast and forms a dense shape, and its leaves turn color in fall. Magenta pink flowers open from early to late summer and again in early autumn, and butterflies and bees visit them. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Chaste tree, Little bluestem, and Clary sage.
