Notes

'Winesap' iris (Iris 'Winesap') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The deep wine-red blooms are fragrant, and butterflies visit them. The plant is also drought tolerant.

Pairs well with Ice Follies daffodil, Incrediball Blush smooth hydrangea, and Sensitive fern.
