Notes
'Zi Guan' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Zi Guan') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its double, pale purple flowers open in mid spring and have a strong fragrance. Each bloom has reddish-purple flares at the center and faces upward. The woody stems stand upright and are not easily damaged by wind.
Pairs well with Liberty hosta, Niobe clematis, Garlic chives, and Black spruce.
