Notes

'Adonis' iris (Iris 'Adonis') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. The dark violet flowers have a blotch edged in purple, and they open in spring and again in summer. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Feather reed grass, Japanese forest grass, and Bridal wreath spiraea.
