Notes

Ashe juniper (Juniperus ashei) is an evergreen tree with an open, rounded crown. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Birds and small mammals eat the blue berry-like cones on female trees. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Its shaggy bark and fragrant foliage add interest all year.

Pairs well with Texas bluebonnet, Fountain grass, and Rock rose.
