Notes

'Athena' peony (Paeonia 'Athena') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Buff flowers with lavender flares are fragrant and draw butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Professor Arthur Percy Saunders bred it.

Pairs well with Fire Island hosta, Dittany, Carlton daffodil, and Polish Spirit clematis.
