Notes

'Azurro' rhododendron (Rhododendron 'Azurro') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, hedges, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It bears purple blooms with a dark red blotch in early to late spring, and hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. The evergreen leaves keep color in winter.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Christmas fern, Sum and Substance hosta, and Coralbells.
