Notes

'Blue Shades' Greek thimbleweed (Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades') is a bulb for borders, rock gardens, naturalized drifts, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Lilac-purple flowers with yellow centers open in early to late spring and attract butterflies and bees. It spreads quickly, so it fills in a bed fast. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Japanese forest grass, and Oakleaf hydrangea.
