Notes
'Bressingham Comet' red-hot poker (Kniphofia 'Bressingham Comet') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Red and yellow blooms rise in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It tolerates salt and stays evergreen.
Pairs well with Hummingbird's mint, Autumn fern, and Texas bluebonnet.
