Notes

'Buckwheat' iris (Iris 'Buckwheat') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. The fragrant yellow blooms have a greenish-tan tinge on the falls. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Flowers appear in early to late spring and again in early to late summer on plants 30 to 36 inches tall.

Pairs well with Sum and Substance hosta, Strawberry Sundae panicle hydrangea, China Town tulip, and Cinnamon fern.
