'Gracilis' Canadian hemlock (Tsuga canadensis 'Gracilis') is a tree for specimen use, hedges, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is a low, arching evergreen that grows 24 to 36 inches tall and 48 to 60 inches wide. The growth rate is rapid, and birds visit it. It sits low on the menu for deer.

Pairs well with Blue Angel hosta, Cinnamon fern, Woodland phlox, and Smooth hydrangea.
