Notes

'Chione' iris (Iris 'Chione') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. The standards are wisteria blue with violet veins, and the falls are chartreuse green with maroon veins and a dark velvet brown blotch. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Blooms appear in early to late spring and again in early to late summer.

Pairs well with Munstead lavender, Japanese forest grass, Casa Blanca lily, and Feather reed grass.
