Notes

'Clara' iris (Iris 'Clara') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. The standards are purplish black veined on white, and the falls are brownish black. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Wild geranium, Feather reed grass, and Japanese forest grass.
