Notes

'Claret' sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Claret') is an annual for borders, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is not cold-hardy and will not survive freezing temperatures. This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil of most types. It grows fast and stands 59 to 71 inches tall, so give it a spot at the back of the bed. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit it. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with First Knight fountain grass, Cerise Queen yarrow, and Zahara Starlight Rose zinnia.
