Notes

'Cole' Canadian hemlock (Tsuga canadensis 'Cole') is a tree for low maintenance beds, specimen planting, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The arching branches stay evergreen all year. It grows at a rapid rate, and birds visit it. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Paradigm hosta, Siberian bugloss, and Autumn crocus.
