Notes

'Cool as a Cucumber' hosta (Hosta 'Cool as a Cucumber') is a perennial for borders, containers, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It reaches 24 to 36 inches tall and spreads 35 to 47 inches, so give it room. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the fragrant blooms.

Pairs well with Aureola Japanese forest grass, Bigleaf hydrangea, and Astilbe.
