Notes
'Firmament' ornamental onion (Allium 'Firmament') is a bulb for borders, containers, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Its dark violet half spheres reach 4 to 5 inches wide on stems 2 to 3 feet tall in mid to late spring. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Bees and butterflies visit the fragrant blooms.
Pairs well with Picos Blue Mediterranean sea holly, Gladiolus, and Blue fescue.
