Notes

'Gold Rush' red-hot poker (Kniphofia 'Gold Rush') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and accents. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It blooms in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the flowers. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. The foliage stays evergreen.

Pairs well with Silver feather grass, Russian sage, Coneflower, and Globe thistle.
