Notes

Hardy ginger (Hedychium greenii) is a perennial for borders, tropical-style gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun. The leaves are deep maroon on the undersides, and the color also tints the stems. Dark orange, unscented flowers open in early to mid autumn in a small, tight cluster. Mulch with fallen leaves in winter.

Pairs well with Totally Tangerine dahlia, Mondo grass, and Lemon verbena.
