Notes

Dense ginger lily (Hedychium densiflorum) is a perennial for borders and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Three foot tall stems carry 18 inch long clusters of tightly packed, deep orange flowers with a moderate fragrance. Mulch with fallen leaves in winter. In colder spots, grow it in a pot and keep it in a frost free area for the winter.

Pairs well with Soft tree fern, Blue Hawaii taro, Carmencita castor bean, and Montbretia.
