Notes

'Jonared' apple (Malus domestica 'Jonared') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It blooms from early to late spring, and bees visit the flowers. This sport of 'Jonathan' has a dense habit and a moderate growth rate. William Uecher bred it in 1934, and the fruit is picked late in the season.

Pairs well with Karl Rosenfield peony, Mock orange, Garlic chives, and White spruce.
