Notes
'Kompeito' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Kompeito') is a shrub for cut flowers, hedges, privacy screens, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The blooms are blue or pink with white edges, and the plant tolerates salt. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows fast and reaches about 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide.
Pairs well with Liberty hosta, Aureola Japanese forest grass, Lady fern, and Toad lily.
