Notes

'La Vida Grande' Indian-hawthorn (Rhaphiolepis indica 'La Vida Grande') is a shrub for hedges, foundation plantings, privacy screens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The dense, evergreen mound grows fast.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Mondo grass, Purple top, and Southern magnolia.
