Notes

Leavenworth's sedge (Carex leavenworthii) is a grass for ground cover and low maintenance plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer tend to pass it by. It grows about 12 inches tall and wide and stays evergreen. Butterflies and birds visit it, and it tolerates drought.

Pairs well with White wood aster, Christmas fern, and Wild bergamot.
