Notes

'Marlene' oriental poppy (Papaver orientale 'Marlene') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. This clumping plant reaches 24 to 36 inches tall and tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Ostfriesland sage, Lady's mantle, and Purple Sensation ornamental onion.
