Notes

Mexican zinnia (Zinnia angustifolia) is an annual for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. Frost will kill it, so set it out only after the last frost in spring. This plant likes full sun and dry to average, loamy or clay soil. It forms a clumping mound of orange, yellow, white, red, and pink blooms that attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Deer tend to pass it by. It also tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Sensation cosmos, Sungold sunflower, and Cerise Queen yarrow.

Native range

Southeastern United States and Mexico.
