'Ning Ye Zi' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Ning Ye Zi') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant, deep-purple aubergine flowers open in early to late spring. Each semi-double bloom has dark-red flares at its center and sits upright on a strong stem. Plants reach about 100cm at maturity.
Pairs well with Lenten rose, Weigela, Hinoki cypress, and Grape hyacinth.
