Notes

'Planet Earth' American arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Planet Earth') is a shrub for hedges, privacy screens, foundation plantings, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It grows slowly into a dense, fragrant evergreen that reaches 35 to 59 inches tall and wide. Birds visit it, and it keeps the garden green through winter. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Panicle hydrangea, Stonecrop, and Blue fescue.
