Notes

'Purple Velvet' iris (Iris 'Purple Velvet') is a bulb for borders, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. The violet-blue blooms open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. H.J. Wentink bred it.

Pairs well with Munstead lavender, Feather reed grass, and Casa Blanca lily.
