'Red Lady' Lenten rose (Helleborus hybridus 'Red Lady') is a perennial for naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes part to full shade and average moisture. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It bears burgundy red blooms from early to late spring. The evergreen leaves stay on the plant through the year and reach 12 to 18 inches tall and wide.
Pairs well with Bergenia, Appalachian sedge, Wild hyacinth, and Vine maple.
