Notes

'Redfree' apple (Malus domestica 'Redfree') is a tree for food gardens, specimen planting, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is grown for fresh eating, and the fruit keeps for two to three weeks. White spring flowers are fragrant and draw bees. Plant a second apple nearby, because it is not self-fertile.

Pairs well with Apricot, High-bush blueberry, Feather reed grass, and Greig's tulip.
