'Rocket's Red Glare' red-hot poker (Kniphofia 'Rocket's Red Glare') is a perennial for borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It blooms from early to late summer, and butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the flowers. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. This plant is also drought tolerant.
Pairs well with Silver feather grass, Russian sage, Coneflower, and Globe thistle.
