Notes

'Shock-O-Lat' sunflower (Helianthus annuus 'Shock-O-Lat') is an annual for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. Frost will kill it, so set it out only after the last frost in spring. This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Its chocolate-and-gold bicolor blooms open from early to late summer. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the flowers. Deer tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Candy Stripe cosmos, Spitfire nasturtium, Cerise Queen yarrow, and Red fescue.
